About
Rosen Family
Preschool

Our Preschool Threes and Fours classrooms provide a strong bilingual foundation in English and American Sign Language for children aged three to five. Early accessible language—spoken or signed—is a critical predictor of positive language outcomes. These set the stage for developing world knowledge and healthy social-emotional skills. Current research shows that cognitive functions are enhanced in the bilingual brain. Our supportive play-based dual-language environment is designed to benefit children and families who value ASL and English. Families with a wide variety of home languages enrich our community. We prioritize enrollment for Deaf children, those with Deaf family members and those whose families are dedicated to ASL, Deaf Culture and Bilingual Deaf Education

Classrooms

Bilingual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Classroom

Our Bilingual DHH ASL and English classroom provides a strong foundation in language skills for deaf children. We know that early accessible language—spoken or signed—is a predictor of positive language outcomes. These set the stage for developing world knowledge and healthy social-emotional skills. Current research shows that cognitive functions are enhanced in the bilingual brain.

ASL Immersion Classroom

Our ASL Immersion Classroom provides a supportive play-based dual-language environment for children who use ASL. We prioritize enrollment for children with Deaf family members and for those whose families are dedicated to ASL, Deaf Culture and Bilingual Deaf Education.

Extended Day Program

Families can enroll preschool children in our extended day program offering care from 8-9am and 3-5pm on school days.

Reggio Emilia Philosophy

The Preschool fosters a constructivist, play-based classroom inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy of early learning. Using that philosophy, we have developed our own framework based on the High Scope Curriculum and guided by Emergent Curriculum principles.

Fostering ASL Commitment

All families are expected to show a commitment to the use of American Sign Language in the home. We support your journey with ASL classes for family members and the community.

Parents and caretakers play a crucial role in their child’s language development journey by actively participating in our ASL program. As part of our commitment to supporting families, we encourage parents and caretakers to set individualized goals for their own ASL studies, tailored to their learning preferences and schedules. Whether it’s mastering basic conversational skills or delving deeper into ASL linguistics, our program offers flexible opportunities for family members to enhance their signing proficiency.

Additionally, we invite parents and caretakers to engage with our vibrant community through participation in our Parent/Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA serves as a platform for collaboration, networking, and advocacy, where families can connect with educators, share experiences, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our program. Through regular meetings, workshops, and events, parents and caretakers have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of ASL education, exchange resources and tips, and actively shape the direction of our program.

By empowering parents and caretakers to set their own ASL learning goals and actively participate in our community, we foster a supportive and inclusive environment where families are integral partners in their child’s educational journey.
