Steps to Enroll Your Child in the Parent-Infant Program At Hearing, Speech, and Deaf Center
Step 1: Obtain a Diagnosis
Start by getting a diagnosis for your child from a qualified audiologist. This diagnosis is essential for accessing the appropriate support and services.
Step 2: Referral to the Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) Program
Once the diagnosis is confirmed, the audiologist will refer your child to the Early Support for Infants and Toddlers (ESIT) program. ESIT specializes in early intervention services for young children with developmental delays or disabilities.
Step 3: Coordination with Child Find
ESIT will coordinate with Child Find, a service that identifies children who may need special education or related services. They will locate a local agency to support your family and assign a Family Resources Coordinator (FRC) to work with you.
Step 4: Connection to our Parent-Infant Program
After the FRC has been assigned, they will connect you with HSDC, and our PIP team will reach out to you to schedule an informational call. During this call, you will discuss your child’s needs and the specific services available through the Parent-Infant Program. The HSDC team will guide you through the next steps to ensure your child receives the support they need.
Following these steps will help you successfully enroll your child in the Parent-Infant Program and access the services that best support their development.
